I want to remove the camera shortcut form my new Samsung Galaxy S6 which is running android version 5.0.2.
I go to settings, personal and then to lockscreen and security and there is nothing. I browse and there is nothing.

I also would like to have to type in my PW before answering the phone which means I want to remove that shortcut too form the lockscreen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you can't. Phones have to have a shortcut for the phone so you can at least dial 911. And I don't believe the camera can be removed either. If you have a password though that'll have to be used to access the phone to make a call unless it's an emergency call, and they won't be able to see any old pictures in the camera app.

To turn off camera quick launch, open camera, go to settings, scroll to quick launch and toggle to off...

Keep in mind, this also disables camera quick launch when phone is unlocked as well....

I think it's a Lollipop feature. It's not really a security risk though as they can't access any of your old pictures. You can also take pictures without unlocking the device on iOS. There definitely won't be a lot of returns due to this. The fact that pretty much everyone includes this shows that it's what the majority of consumers want.

Yes you can. When phone is locked and you access the camera, take one photo and now you have access to their whole album.

I believe you are mistaken about this. I have the phone protected with finger lock and password. When I take a pic after quick launch and view and then try to scroll through photos, I get a message, "unlock device to view all images and videos." So I think the phone is secured.

Nope, that's wrong. What Bruce says below is correct. The only photos you have access to are the ones that you just took. Anything else and you have to unlock the device.

Yup! You guys are right. Can only view the pics you took...not existing photos.

Getting access to album is a far cry...think of a situation where somebody (even a mischievous friend) takes an offensive/criminal picture on your phone without unlocking it and reports police on you! In no time police will catch hold of your phone and find the pictures! Now who is considered as criminal? The unknown person who had access to your cell phone with out unlocking your phone or you?

Very good point.

Dont do anything bad or leave your phone lying around for someone to take it. IOS has had this feature for a few years now and they dont have a problem do they?

I just bought my s6 at the end of May from ATT. I would like this feature disabled as well because of battery life. Its so easy when you slide your phone into a pocket that the camera gets active even though you have locked your phone. It just burns up more battery time. The extra features and extremely nice screen already burn through the battery fast enough without this issue. I'm glad to see that it wasn't just me not being able to find the setting to turn that off. I hope it becomes an option in the future to disable this feature. Thanks to all for this thread of info.

I'm tired of my friends who always takes a lot of pictures when I'm gone.
I don't understand why the camera shortcut has to be in the lockscreen.. Who the **** needs to take a picture when they're in trouble? And for what?? They can't send it anyway.

And I think it will be better if we need to double-click for opening shortcuts. That would fix the activation-problem when you have your phone in a pocket

has anyone tried to install a different lock screen from the play store? also I don't believe this feature was available to remove in 5.0.1 - I tried when I first got the phone and couldn't find it.

I agree with the camera shortcut there being able to activate the camera. It sucks. But what it sucks worse is that we can NOT change the camera shortcut for whatever we want.

That would be nice. I am usually needing to "fire up" fast the voice recording future at my job. It would be neat if I could just swipe that shortcut and immediately start recording with the possibility to deactivate the feature when not at my job.
