New GS6 lost charge overnight

Brand new GS6. Last night = 100% This morning = 0%. I live in a no signal area.

The GS6 came with a Verizon sim card but I haven't subscribed to any provider yet. I am able to get Gmails on the GS6 via my PC's router (WiFi).

Question:

Should I turn it off using the button on the right side or the button at the bottom?
Something activity drained it last night.

I've had a Samsung clam-shell cell phone with T-Mobile for about 5 years (at $15/yr) for emergencies only. My options are to get a T-Mobile sim card or to switch to H'wn Tel or even Verizon).

Tips appreciated.

Re: New GS6 lost charge overnight

Welcome to Android Central! Until you start a wireless plan, I'd turn on Airplane Mode, so that the cell radio stays off. You can still turn on wi-fi and Bluetooth after you turn on Airplane Mode.
