I apologize if this has been discussed before, but I haven't found anything. About 2 months ago, I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile, and at the same time, went from a Galaxy S5 (Verizon) to the S6 (T-Mobile). After using the S6 for 2 months, I'm finding myself really missing the S5. The only thing the S6 has going for it, in my opinion, is the wireless charging feature.
I'm curious if anyone else here has had similar experiences with the S6, with regard to what I'm about to describe. I'm wondering if it's an S5-vs-S6 thing, or a Verizon-interface-vs-T-Mobile-interface thing. These are my major gripes about the S6:
1) Battery life stinks compared to the S5. I could go a full day on my S5 without recharging. I can barely make it half a day on the S6 before my battery is sucked down to 20-30%. I have 3 e-mail account that sync, along with Facebook, Words with Friends... the "usual" stuff.
2) My biggest complaint, though, isn't the battery life -- it's the phone interface. And I haven't found any way to fix these, so far (advice greatly appreciated!!).
a) If I'm on a call and someone else calls, with the S5, I would just slide the green icon over and it would automatically place the existing call on hold and answer the incoming one. With the S6, when I slide the green icon, I get a menu asking if I want to place the existing call on hold, disconnect the existing call, or merge the two together. It's an extra step, and since it doesn't happen too often, I don't have the locations memorized and have to read the prompts. It's a pain in the **** at best, and dangerous at worst if I get another call while I'm driving somewhere. But that's one thing I'm wondering if it's T-Mobile vs. Verizon, as opposed to S6 vs. S5.
b) On the S5, if I'm on a phone call and the screen goes off (or I turn it off), when I turn it back on, it stays on. On the S6, when I turn it back on, it goes off again after a few seconds. This is a real pain if I'm working with an automated attendant where I have to "press 1 for this, press 2 for that, etc." The automated attendant prompts always take just long enough that the screen turns off right when I'm ready to press the next button. On the S5, the screen would stay on, although if I had turned it off before, access to other phone functions would still be locked until I press the Home button and unlock it. And that's fine. On the S6, though, I have to unlock it and then make sure not to turn the screen off again to prevent this annoying behavior from recurring.
c) On the S5, even with the dial pad up, I still could see both rows of buttons below the dial pad, including the Bluetooth button. There are times when I have to switch off of Bluetooth. On the S6, when you have the dial pad up, you only see one row of buttons, and the Bluetooth button isn't among them. You have to hide the dial pad first, then get to Bluetooth. That becomes a pain when I'm using my in-car Bluetooth, and then I arrive at my destination and have to switch off to my headset or to the earpiece on the handset. Extra buttons to press.
d) When you're not actually on the phone but bring up the phone app, the dial pad is no longer one of the tabs on the top, like it was on the S5. Instead, it's a separate button. I preferred having it on top.
I believe there are some other things, too, but this was all I could think of at the moment. Anyone else feeling the same way, or is it just me?
