Why won't notifications turn off when the ringer is on Galaxy S6?

Notifications won't turn off when ringer is on Galaxy S6

There are 2 days a week that i need my ringer on at work for daycare purposes. So i have ringtone on, and the other 3 settings (media, notifications, system) all turned off.
However, i still get facebook message notifications, and vibrations from Twitter alerts.
Any idea what i'm doing wrong?

try enabling do not disturb and only allow calls through
you can also add any other apps you need

Sometimes other apps gave their own notification settings that are different from the phone's settings. You may be turning off notifications for stock messages or app notifications but not 3rd party apps. The above mentioned solution sounds like the way to go
