My screen is black but it still responding?

My screen is black but it still responding? Samsung Galaxy S6

Basically my phone just stopped working (which is what i thought at first) but it's actually responding to my password (which is just the shape of the letter N) which is good because i just backed up all my important files onto my laptop, also my notification light is still working... But I think the screen itself is broken which is weird bc i have never dropped it, except in my room but that has no impact, and my little brother dropped it a few weeks ago (so i doubt it was that)...

There may be just a loose contact, or the display may have failed.

This happened to me 1 week into my ownership from early May. The screen just simply choose not to come on, but, it was still responsive. I could accept phone calls and etc. I took it back to Best Buy, hoping they would just replace it. After dealing with one of the worse managers ever, they made me go through Geek Squad for a warranty claim. Got a refurbished S6 in the mail next day.
