Why is the service unavailable when I try to update to marshmallow 6.0.1

A

AC Question

When I tap on check for system updates there's an error and it says Software update is temporarily unavailable. Try again later. I'm on a Galaxy S6 the carrier is Verizon and the update already came out but I can't update to it.

It may be a temporary thing, as indeed the message indicates. I believe that I've experienced it myself.

Also, you can only attempt one update every 24 hours. If you're trying more often than that you'll get an error.

You need to attach your phone to your computer and install the Verizon Software Upgrade Assistant. Click on the repair assistant and it will repair your phone to where you can install the update. Make sure you backup your phone before you start. You will lose some of your apps and you will have to reinstall them manually. Make a list of your apps so you know what you had.
