Is anyone having an issue with Gmail NOT synching automatically?

My both S7 Edge have the same syncing issues with Gmail, contacts, calendar, Facebook and other.... So I turned OFF the optimize battery usage individually. Those apps are syncing fine now.

I think we may have a winner here! Seem's to have worked for me!

if power saving mode is on then gmail will not work try using my mail it will work with power saving mode on and off

I have been having a problem with Gmail as well as contacts syncing between different phones using the same Gmail account. Usually if I add a contact on one phone, it will sync to the other three with no problems. That hasn't been working in over a month.

Do you mean turning off the switch at the top of the app optimization screen?

Go to Settings >> Battery >> Battery Usage >> More >> Optimize Battery Usage >> Arrow Down >> All Apps, then scroll down and look for Gmail, Contacts......etc., whichever you choose, and then toggle to ON or OFF. I had Gmail, Contacts.........etc at OFF. Then you can go back and check, after tapping Optimize Battery Usage. It would show you what Apps Not Optimized that you had selected to be at OFF. I hope this would help.

Thank you for the clear explanation. There are so many settings that I never knew existed. This appears to finally be working on my phone.

I currently have three phones that I use and I like to keep the contacts synced between all of them. I was thinking Google contact syncing was broken all this time.

Thank you! I was only going to the other battery-saving feature (the one that saves power after the app hasn't been used for three days) and GMail isn't listed in that section, plus turning that off for my other e-mail app (Kaiten Mail) didn't solve the problem of IMAP IDLE push notifications not starting for the day until I open the app once that day. I just did what you said for both GMail and Kaiten, so hopefully the notifications will be fixed now!
