always on display fade?

I have noticed the always on display will fade, basically grow darker occasionally. Then it'll get brighter for awhile and fade a little. Is this normal? After every five minutes does it fade a little and brighten with the time change?

I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with the brightness in the room or battery usage. I assume or hope this is committed, but I didn't know if anyone else knows of this. Thanks

Seems to me like it's a room brightness thing but it is definitely not consistent.

Its an ambient light thing. Cover up the ambient light sensor and several seconds later it will dim.
