The "automatic date and time" is on but I crossed into a new time zone and my phone hasn't changed. I tried restarting my phone as well. Any ideas?

How deeply into the new time zone have you gone?

Your phone gets the date and time from the cell tower it is connected to; if it is still connected to a tower in the other time zone or, if it is not connected to a tower at all, then it won't have the correct info.

Are you on Sprint? If so, you may need to run the profile update function.

Give it 15 minutes after connecting to the new tower. Also try to restart the phone

We are about 50 miles into the new time zone. We have been here for almost 24 hours. And yes, I did restart the phone. Interestingly, other programs that do not rely on the cell tower but on Wi-Fi have changed their times.

I don't think Android has ever recognized time zones correctly. Whenever I travel I end up having to reset the time manually. Once I do that, it will maintain the correct local time based on the network.

The programs that reset the time are probably using NTP, rather than than the cellular network.
