locked out and phone keeps telling me wait an increasing # of mins to try again!

Samsung Galaxy s7 edge. I was taking pics (just double tapping the main button, not going in through main menu) and now it won't let me access the fingerprint scanner at all to get in. It tells me I can retry in x minutes, but when the count down ends and I even touch the phone anywhere, it restarts the number of mins it is counting down before I can retry! It is up to an hour now! HELP!!!

First, press and hold Power to shut down the phone.

Hopefully we'll be able to think of a second step.

After the reboot, as belodion described; if it still asks you this...power off your device, and reboot into recovery, and see if wiping the system cache will help.
