I am having 0 issues with gaming on mine. I am able to game or use the VR for pretty much as long as I want. I would say do a factory reset if you are having major issues.

Oh just to be clear (sorry I wasn't ) I don't mean freezes and restarts of the phones but of the game itself.

I play lots of games on my phone and they run pretty smooth so I don't have any problems playing any game

Maybe try cleaning cache in the settings-storage-internal storage- cache data and see if that fixes it
