S7 Edge vs S6 Edge, Quad vs Octa Core

I searched everywhere for this info and couldn't find it. I just came over to the S7 from S6 after my son's was stolen and replaced with this one. How does it benchmark so much higher with less cores?

Number of cores don't matter as much as the tech used in designing the chips.

An example would be a 1.5Ghz dual core 4th gen i5 is as fast as a 2Ghz quad core 1st gen i5.

I believe he's referring to why would a dual core SnapDragon on the S7 have better performance scores than the Octacore Exynos on the S6
