How do I do Speech to Text (Voice Recognition)

Since my Verizon S7 Edge upgraded to 6.0.1, the microphone which is normally on the on the lowest row of the keyboard has vanished. In Message+, there is a microphone in a different location, but nothing on the keyboard. When I push the new microphone, it wants to make a recorded message. I want speech to text.

S-Voice when activated with the keyboard active inputs what you say into Google Search, not as text into whatever I am trying to create text.

I usually use voice recognition on the phone, since it is faster and more accurate than my fat fingers. This is not longer possible, since I can't switch to the previous microphone from the keyboard.

What can I do to use my S7 Edge again for voice recognition?
