an easy way to close my S7 edge screen?

Using an app to close the screen would render the fingerprint reader useless. The phone won't accept fingerprint unlock if you have another app controlling the opening and locking of the screen.

If your goal is to 'save' the power button from too much usage, you'd better not think too much about it. My 7 year old Galaxy S and my 3 year old Note 2 still have theirs intact after years of usage, and both devices are still actively being used right now.

Besides what Chanchan05 has mentioned, I currently use Smart Screen On/Off Auto. It works great for me anyway. You can double tap the screen or use the Off Button created from the app to close the screen. When you are ready to turn it back on, just motion your hand in front of the screen and it will open back up. Great little app.
