I've had the S7 Edge for about a month. For the past couple of days my phone will freeze. I'll have to hold the volume down and press the power button to go into the boot loader to restart the phone. Other times, the phone just resets for no particular, recognizable reason.

Does this sound like a circumstance where a factory reset is the only solution or are there trouble shooting steps I can take before going through the long, annoying reset procedure?

I cannot pinpoint a malicious app that could be the cause.

Cache wipe didn't work, and it still resets safe mode. It's actually worse. My phone won't stay on long enough for me to read an unread text.

Any recent system updates?

At this point, a factory reset is worth a try. If it still happens after a factory reset, the last thing I'd try is to reinstall the firmware using the Verizon Repair Assistant: Repair Assistant - Software Upgrade Assistant (Samsung) | Verizon Wireless

I ran out of options. I did a factory reset. Pain in the butt but the phone is functioning normally again.

I appreciate the help you offered!

EDIT: The last update occurred at the beginning of September.
