What happened to SMS Character count on S7 Edge?

Hello!
I've recently upgraded from S4 to S7 and noticed that my SMS Character count has disappeared. I had a software update to the S7 last night but tbh I can't recall if the character count had disappeared before then or not. I've searched and found several (quite old) threads similar to this but no suitable replies. My S4 still has Character count (same carrier). Any ideas. Many thanks. Tickler.

Don't think they have that any more... My S6 or S7 doesn't....

I'm using a third party app, but the character counter shows up -after- you've typed 19 characters...

Third party app may or may not show the character count. Using the stock app, it doesn't.

On one of my S7 Edge phones, I am running the Nougat beta and in the stock messages app, it does show the count counting down from 1,000.

I've just discovered that it kicks in when you have 10 (ten) characters left from your 160. Many Thanks to all the above for their replies.
