Strange bug when putting a call on hold and answering a second call

Happened two different times yesterday. Was on the phone talking. Someone else called. I asked the person if they could please hold, answered the other call, but they couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear them. Had to select speakerphone to be able to hear. Same thing happen later in the day. What if I don't want to use speakerphone to do a 3 way call? Seems strange

Are you using a carrier version of the phone? I have a T-Mobile one and I haven't had issues doing that, and I've both joined two incoming calls as well as two calls I initiated.

I'm on Verizon. Bought the phone through them
