Why are my email functions auto disabled so is not downloading or syncing, how do I correct this?

why is my my emails function auto disabled so is not downloading or syncing how do i correct this

Galaxy S7 - when got phone and first set up all was fine but now it does not auto download emails or sync. When enter setting and notifications it tells me is auto disabled and there does not seem to be a way to correct this. I did add caller id app to try and sync my contacts and wonder if that is also causing a problem, Any help appreciated

Hi, if you go into settings > accounts > Google > Gmail - is this turned on, if it isn't then turn it on
