Does Samsung Pay work better with Visa than American Express?

I had my first Samsung Pay failure today on a newish checkout terminal. I think I remember having trouble in the past with Am. Ex and then succeeding with Visa (people today were too annoyed to let me try a second time)--has anyone else had that experience?

(P.s., cashier did say they are supposed to take Am. Ex.)

Most businesses will refuse amex here in Australia....

I know when I try Amex at Walmart I usually get a card read error. I don't have the same problem with Visa at Walmart, but that doesn't always mean it works either. Something about Walmart and Samsung Pay. Maybe trying to force us to use the Walmart app?

I know when I tried to use SP at WM it failed, and forced me to use Walmart Pay. Others have talked about this issue in another thread in this forum.
