Why S8+ and not S8?

Personally, I didn't think the screen size difference worth the extra $100 up front on my T-Mo JUMP program. I think the screen on the S8 is big enough, though, for a little less money, I'd have gone for the larger screen.

As for battery life? Meh. The larger screen is about 6.5% larger. The larger battery is about 14% larger. So, yeah, I might get 5 to 7% more battery life in the s8+, but again, worth the extra $100 up front? Nah. To be fair, I'm not sure how well the screen size change correlates to relative battery life, but I'm not so sure the s8+ will get THAT much more battery life. I could be completely wrong, however. We shall see!

I may grab a note when they come out . . . we'll see. I'm on the OG JUMP program, so I can switch up to twice per year with no real penalty. :)

I give two poops and a darn about ratio. I don't do a lot of movie or video watching on my phone. I have a Galaxy Tab S2 and a Surface Pro 3 for that.

I like the feel of the phone, its performance specs, and the ability to use a 256GB microSD card. The aspect ratio is number four or five down the give a crap list.

I pre-ordered the S8+ because the S8 is narrower than my S6 edge while the S8+ is barely wider. I wanted a bigger screen and for me the S8+ felt manageable in my hand.

Why the S8+ over the S8? Because I want the bigger screen.

I'm upgrading from S6 Edge+, so going to the S8+ is only a hair taller, but with it being narrower, it feels comfortable in the hand. The screen is larger, which I want and the battery is slightly bigger, which I'm happy to have.

S8+ for me. Aspect ratio be damned... at the end of the day, black bars or not, you are still getting a picture that is the same width (height in landscape video) as an iPhone 7 Plus (2.7"), but taller for more text and browser content displayed. I don't think that was a coincidence by Samsung.
Watching a 16:9 video even with the bars on the side you see the same size full picture as a 7 Plus.

I'm going for the 8+ because of the I hope increased battery life and because (and I feel almost crazy saying this, but it's what I've become used to) the 8 is too small. I don't really watch movies on my phones so I don't care about the aspect ratio for that. I suppose I'll be able to fit more text on it and maybe scroll less, but the phone does seem a little oblong to me. I'd have been happy with a S7E sized phone with the decreased bezels of the 8's, for whatever mystery sized aspect ratio that would have created.

Ha ha ha...that;s what I'm talkin' bout! Got to risk it for the biscuit.

Yes she was even more amused when tonight I accidentally spent $100 bill on 3 cases, Anker QC 3.0 brick and a pair of USB C cables

Current status: holding dog in recliner at 0000. 🤦🏼*♂️

Do we even know if it has QC3?

I'm pretty sure it has 2.0 and I bet it *eventually* gets 3.0 myself. It looks like 4.0 is rather doubtful though. Regardless, I wasn't buying a charger now and later. *♂️

While obviously not the point of this thread, it seems insane to me that they didn't at least bump it up to QC3. I have QC2 on my 1.5yr old S7E.

Agree 100%. Hardware, that I've read, says 835 is physically compatible with 4.0. I'd imagine through firmware updates they could turn QC 2/3/4 on/off as they wish. So I'm wishfully hoping we get at least 3.0. As discussed elsewhere I think Samsung erred on the side of safety after the last battery debacle. In that thread it was stated that 4.0 had less heat than 2/3 because it charged quicker or something. I 100% feel QC 2.0 was a safety sake decision though.

For anyone interested, here is a photo of a case I bought for s8+, with my s5 in it, it fit sides and you can see how much longer it is.
