Blue LED light not working for emails

Picked up the S8 yesterday. Funny, how at first I didn't like it as I loved the S6. But now that I have used it for less than 24 hours, I look back at the S6 and it looks and feels old !!

One thing that I cannot work out is the Blue LED Notification light for emails. I get the blue light flashing when a text message comes through, but cannot get the light working for when an email comes through.

I also have the AOD feature turned off.

Has anyone got the light working for email notifications?

I have the same issue! Not only the blue email light doesn't work but for texts, the LED light only blinks when it wants to and is very random. Is this the software issue or what?! So annoyed with the brand new S8!

I'm having same problem, notification light does not work for text/email. For text, I'm not getting a notification chime. Tried everything, researched and this is the only forum where I have seen someone else having same/similar problem.

I just solved this, thought I had done this before, but... user error. If you go to settings/notifications and you have All apps turned off, that will stop the notifications for email and texts, need to turn those ones on. I did this before and tested it, but it didn't work, turned it off and the text notification was turned off, then turned off one more time and turned on and BAM it's working. Go figure.

Thanks for the note but no I have messaging and LED notifications specifically, on. I had Galaxy S6 for 2 years so I know how to change settings on my new S8. Funny thing is, the light seems to be working when it's on vibrate but doesn't work on Silent or when the sound is on. This is really annoying.

So glad you are liking your phone! Try going to your in-app settings from your Settings app and see if LED notifications are set to appear.

Yes LED notification and Text message app notifications are on.

I had the same issue with my S8. I usually have the sound on silent for my emails, just the LED light would be turned on. I was getting so frustrated not knowing why I wasn't getting notified.
I tried everything and finally found something that works, I put the sound on for my notifications and voila.
It works, but I have no idea why it will only work with the sound turned on. Hopefully there will be an update to fix this as I like my emails silent.

Thanks AdamHLG, I downloaded a silent notification tone from Zedge and it works like a charm.
I also did call into AT&T and the representative asked the Samsung specialist why the notification led doesn't work for emails on silent and I was told that Samsung got rid of the notification led for emails??
Anyhow, thanks again!!
