Notification Popups Not Showing

I've had my Galaxy S8+ for a couple weeks now but I cannot figure out how to get notification popups to work. When the phone is unlocked, I will receive popup notifications for incoming texts, but I do not receive any popups for Outlook or other email clients. On iOS, I would receive popups for literally everything! Now on this S8+, I get sounds and the little icon in the upper left corner, but nothing else.

Any idea how to get the popups working? I do have Allow notifications on for all apps and I have turn Edge Lighting off.

Yes, android is a lot more hands on than ios. Look in settings... Notifications... Advanced notifications... Find the apps you want and tap on them. You have a more granulated control there regarding popups and notifications...
