If the Note 7 debacle didn't happen, would you be upgrading the the S8 Plus, or would you be sticking with the Note 7 until the Note 8 came out?

Personally, I'd be sticking with the Note 7. The huge upgrade with the S8 Plus, S8 would be the 835 processor, but other than that, the Spen still keeps the Note 7 the better device IMO. Plus with Android 7.0, the Note would have the latest OS and be nearly up to par.

Note 7 was the best phone I ever had.... so no I would not. It would have been the yr I skipped an upgrade.

Again, comparing the Note line to the S line isn't a fair comparison.

Its not really about comparing and even if it is it's fair. A lot of people wanted the Note 7 and had to return it and Samsung pushed the s7 edge so they themselves started that. I know of 3 coworkers in my area that had a note 7 and had to return it and got the s7 edge, none of them are huge spec people or really needed the note 7 but that was the latest and greatest samsung phone.

Also a lot of people who wanted the note 7 want a new Samsung phone right now and that is the s8/+. So really this is the next step right here, most people who get the note nowadays dont get it for business use.

I personally would get the note 7 if I had the choice, but the s8 should be really nice. The main thing I actually would like right now was the gif making ability.

You can't compare the Note7 to a phone that you haven't held in your hand yet. I loved my Note7, but time moves on. At the time, I didn't think I could like the curved screen on the Note7. But, I changed my mind after holding it.
My plan was to use my JOD once a year to upgrade to the latest Note. My reasoning has always been if you have a Note, why would you even consider the next S phone? All other things being equal, I would pick these Note over the S. Since the S8 changed up the design and there's no Note alternative currently, I am getting the S8+. However, I will most likely get the Note 8 as well when it comes out.

Basically, I would have to see the S8+ in person if I still had the Note7 before I would make a final decision.

If I still had my Note 7, I probably wouldn't be grabbing the S8 and would instead be waiting for the Note 8. I really need 64gb of space for my device so that's the biggest thing pushing me to upgrade.

Right. Having a 256GB card for free is nice and all, but that doesn't do diddle for apps. I had to pick between the available Samsung phones for BOGO purposes and 32GB is insulting, that some people are now walking around with coral blue and/or 64GB s7 Edges makes me consider upgrading to an LG or iPhone.

Then I laugh and remember how stupid that would be and just wait.

Good Answer, Correct Answer, Smart Answer!!!

Of course, if you looked past the Title and read Blues Fan's post, he went further and said: "If the Note 7 debacle didn't happen, would you be upgrading to the S8 Plus, or would you be sticking with the Note 7 until the Note 8 came out?"

Then again, if he had said that in the Title, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

    O.K., never mind!

Totally agree Almeuit - as I have said TOO many times, the Note 7, even despite the fiasco, was the BEST phone I have ever had, bar none!

I should clarify my answer earlier. I was assuming this was asked in a hypothetical "if the note 7 wasn't recalled and didn't have issues" situation. If it had no issues I wouldn't even look at the s8

If the Note 7 debacle didn't happen, I definitely would have bought a Note 7 and be happy with it for at least a couple of years. Can't compare because it has a pen and really no other competitor I that class so you're kinda future proof for a while. And with the trend in size... S8 being S7E sized, S8+ > iPhone+ size... I have a feeling the Note 8 will be even bigger which is a no-go with me.

I was hoping for s-pen accessory option for S8 but that doesn't sound like it will happen. :/

I'd stick with the Note 7 until the Note 8 came out. The Note > S line of phones.
