Text on S8 not going Edge-to-Edge anymore like the S7?

Was at Best Buy today to get more time using the S8. Got a chance for a side-by-side with S7 Edge and just noticed something and wondering if this is across the board change...

if you look at the text at top of home screen and layout of calendar, the S7 Edge test goes Edge-to-Edge getting distorted at the curves... but the S8 text doesn't go to the edges.

I had thought icons and texts looked narrower and thought it was mainly due to the phone being a little narrower than then S7 Edge but if they are also not stretching text Edge-to-Edge then it seems there is less text space then per line?

Kinda. But it kinda means everything is tinier and sides are actually unused/wasted space? Again I'm not sure if this is case in all apps... I don't recall in all the apps I went into and only have these two shots for reference.

This is good news.

Looking at these side-by-side I prefer the Calendar way more on the S7 Edge, it makes it part of the screen. I like how it rolls off the Edges. I am a Note 4 user, have pre-ordered the S8+, but now seeing this I am having 2nd thoughts already.

The S8 is showing AM/PM which may affect that part as for the calender I thinbk the S7 Edge may have its font set to be bigger than the S8

When I went to Best Buy, the font on the S8 did seem a bit smaller to me compared to my S7e.

This really changes the game we all know we spend a fair amount of time texting ,the screen already seemed narrow and tall now things just got pitched , I'm also curious how apps will display on such a tall screen

Exactly, more is needed on this. This is a very important aspect regarding the Phone. From the photos I much prefer the S7 Edge.
