Not sure why it would do that or if it matters but if you want it back turning your phone off taking the sim out turning it back on again, then turning it off and putting the sim back in should solve it.

Network and GT-I9300 issues, will try my best to help.

I found this link worked for me on my Vodafone Galaxy ace that showed the same issue.

In my Samsung Galaxy S under Settings - Status - Phone number is says 'unknown': Why? - Android Enthusiasts

it worked on my wife's phone too .... Yey!!

There is no 'own number' after selecting settings. My firmware is 4.1.1

I have a Medion, and I had to enter my number manually under Settings/SIM information, but yes I can't get it to show in Settings/Status/SIM status

how i fix this problem try to install this sim card in iphone and you can set the number from iphone setting -phone- my number .set you number after that install it in your samsung it should show your number

This happened to me, and the reason was WhatsApp took over so I deleted WhatsApp but my phone number is still missing.
Any suggestions how to fix it
