Hey guys,
Tonight, my phone, randomly was showing the bootscreen. Rebooting and reinserting battery did not help.
New to this whole thing but I have flashed a couple of roms before. Here's what I've done so far.
History:-
Was brand new until I upgraded to this version of JB
How to Update Galaxy S3 with Multiview Featured Jellybean 4.1.2 Firmware - Android Advices

Working fine for a month.
Then phone seemed to have crashed and stuck at bootscreen.
Tried to access download mode......Worked.
Tried to access recovery mode..... NOT WORKING. Keeps rebooting.
Tried transferring the firmware from the above link again, FAILED. Reports that "There is no PIT Partition".
Tried selecting the format option.....FAILED. Reports that

<ID:0/006> Initialzation..
<ID:0/006> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/006> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/006>
<ID:0/006> Re-Partition operation failed.

Where can i go from here? I'm kind of a newbie so please be precise. :(

Have you tried flashing stock firmware to your phone?

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Android Central Forums

I downloaded stock firmware last night but i doubt i can flash it without hitting the same PIT error. will give it a shot now.

I am having the exact same problem.

I tried to flash stock firmware and it gave me the PIT error, then i tried flashing with the stock firmware and the right PIT file and i got "Can't open the serial(COM) port."

So im interested in any suggestions on what to do.

Hello,

Did you ever find a solution for this? I'm having the same problem... Nothing new installed, it was working up until a couple of hours ago. Now it doesn't want to boot and gets stuck on the samsung logo.
