Inconsistent Quadrant numbers

Hello there,

So I have a regular I9300, and I've been playing with ROMs (hopefully I'll soon be a honest S3 hacker and able to develop apps and other hacks :)), and testing Quadrant on them.
I've been getting wildly different numbers from ROM to ROM, in fact I'm so intrigued about them, I thought I'd share them with you.
All of these tests were done at least twice to confirm numbers, I'm posting the most relevant results.

Stock Samsung 4.1.1 ROM:
5341 (CPU 12715 / Mem 4640 / IO 6414 / 2D 1000 / 3D 1938)

Omega Samsung 4.1.2 ROM: very variable, so I'm going to post several results, look at the 2D and 3D numbers mostly:
6068 (CPU 13136 / Mem 4538 / IO 9508 / 2D 971 / 3D 2189)
5736 (CPU 12570 / Mem 4457 / IO 8185 / 2D 1014 / 3D 2453)
5847 (CPU 12820 / Mem 4407 / IO 9742 / 2D 667 / 3D 1599)

So, it seems that the 4.1.2 ROM does something to IO that largely improves its performance. I don't have a SD card in my S3, if it helps. Is it the same for everyone..? These nice numbers? As for 3D, I don't know why these numbers tend to be so different from one run to another.

CM 10.1 is set with soft nav bar, and disabled hardware keys, nav bar is ~40 dp so the resolution is a bit smaller.
CM 10.1 Performance Governor: 3840 (CPU 8743 / Mem 2360 / IO 5428 / 2D 208 / 3D 2459)
CM 10.1 Ondemand Governor: 3682 (CPU 8765 / Mem 2299 / IO 5076 / 2D 102 / 3D 2170)
CM 10.1 Pegasusq Governor: 4496 (CPU 12503 / Mem 2419 / IO 4851 / 2D 197 / 3D 2510)
CM 10.1 Pegasusq Governor (first run I made): 4388 (CPU 11626 / Mem 2107 / IO 4941 / 2D 178 / 3D 3088)

I'm only posting the last because the 3D number is so huge... 3088?! And indeed it shows when running the benchmark: the planet scene is extremely fluid, whereas it was a bit jerky in the Samsung ROMs.
Other than that, it seems that CM 10.1's performance sucks when it comes to IO (twice slower than 4.1.2 Samsung), Memory (twice slower) and 2D (on average 5 times slower!!) GLBenchmark numbers seem to be similar to the Samsung version though. (Haven't tested much -- it's too long to run...)

It's really annoying, because I pretty much love CM apart from these benchmark numbers. The 'known issues' for CM 10.1 + S3 do say that the 'UI is laggy' (and it indeed is a bit), so I'm thinking this may be related to the poor numbers. I'd rather stay on CM (or AOKP if they could fix their wifi problem...), I'm really, really, REALLY into soft nav keys and I wasn't able to disable the hardware Menu/Back keys on the Samsung ROM.

Any suggestions?

It's a ROM it's not perfect, quadrant isn't optimized for jelly bean yet so you will get all sorts of scores, anyway benchmarks do not mean absolutely anything

Well, that still sounds odd to me... Quadrant seems to work quite well on Jelly Bean for me, it's only on CM 10.1 that it doesn't ;) (I've only tested the temasek version.)
I've just tested the latest AnTuTu... I'm getting 15k on CM 10.1 where I was getting 16k in Jelly Bean 4.1.2. Good to know.

Oh, maybe you were implying Jelly Bean 4.2, BTW, not 4.1..?

Edit -- I was able to edit my system files to disable the hardware keys in Omega Rom v35 (Samsung-based), so I guess I'll use that one. :)
If you're interested, here's a tutorial: How to enable and disable on-screen buttons/soft buttons on Samsung Galaxy S3 - PimpMyRom
Please note that the Generic.kl file needs to be chmodded to allow write permissions (rw-rw-rw) before editing it, and then chmodded back to the original (rw-r-r) after saving it.

Now if I could find a way to revert the navbar button locations to Android stock (Back - Home - Tasks), because I'm used to that eheh... Oh well, it's already much better than before :) Now I no longer have to worry hitting the capacitative buttons by mistake.

So... I went back to Omega AOKP with a saved APK of Quadrant (since I still can't use Wifi on it), installed Quadrant and ran it... I'm getting the exact same numbers as with CM10.1 ROMs, i.e. I/O and RAM numbers are halved compared to the Omega v34/v35 ROMs (which are Samsung-based), and 2D numbers are still divided by 5 (150-250 instead of 950-1000).

It really lacks logic to me... So I looked into it more, I reinstalled CM 10.1, enabled dev mode, went into the dev menu, enabled 'Force GPU Rendering for 2D', launched Quadrant and... Guess what? I'm getting 1000 points again.
I'm still getting scores in the neighborhood of 4500 because it's still twice as slow when it comes to I/O (5000) and RAM (2000-2500). So it's not like this is solved. I'm much more worried about RAM and IO performance than 2D to begin with -- 2D never felt slow even with GPU disabled...

Just wondering what could be wrong.

I'm not registered on XDA yet so I was kinda hoping to get an answer here, eheh.

Anyway, I tried AnTuTu and Vellamo on both Samsung and CM-based ROMs, and getting consistent numbers. So I'm guessing this is a Quadrant problem, more than a ROM/IO/Memory problem...!

No overclock for me, if I did the cpu will be reaching 15k + easy like the note 2.

I have a geekbench info to show my clock speed, its 1.4 as normal and a pic of my 'about device'
