Hi,

Is there any way at all that the phones OS and app data - excpet media files, etc - could be back-ed up and restored to and from a computer?

It would be good to do this incase of any tragedies involving OS updates, etc.

Ta.

:)

Rooted yes.
Otherwise most but not all.

If you root and have titanium backup it will back all of that onto the Sd card. Then you can sync that to your computer.

Or, you could use root browser and just copy and paste the system files manually onto the Sd card then copy them to the computer.

I think KIES is the most horrible application in the world. I installed it onto my Windows 8 x64 computer and it hung and crashed constantly. It kept dropping the phones USB connection. Even if they did fix it, I wouldn't touch it. The GUI looks like something from 10 years ago. It is not good. I just do everything manually over the USB connection via drag and drop. :)
