S3 died - How can I get data off?

My phone is about a year old now and was working fine until last night where I heard my phone restart (I heard the samsung boot up noise) but when I looked at it, it was stuck on the Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 boot screen. Turned off the phone by the button and it just restarts to the same point. Took the battery out and left it for a few minutes, turned it back on and now all I get is this;



I'm not too bothered about the phone, but any idea how I can get data off?

I have tried getting into all menus on the phone, can get into power, home and volume down button where you can flash firmware but not the volume up menu where you can wipe cache etc.
There is no micro sd card. My pictures have been backed up, it's more texts and notes I am after just for more info
