They repackaged the 10.1 with ICS, nothing new. I sure hope this doesn't mean we get the shaft on ICS

Galaxy Tab now = lower end tablet (ie Galxay Tab 2 in 7" or 10.1" models). Galaxy Note besides phone is also going to be their premiere tablet line going forward (ie 5.3" Note phone/tablet hybrid, 10.1 Galaxy Note tablet). Yes, Samsung has effing terrible naming systems for their products. The bad boy who is the successor to the Galaxy Tab 10.1 out now is the Galaxy Note 10.1. Leaked pic of an ad of one on Slashgear.

Looking like our original Galaxy 10.1's won't be getting ICS until after the new lineup of Galaxy Tab's hit the market.

That press release made no mention of Note 10.1 or s-pen for new tablets. Its actually called the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
I hope the Note tab is a reality because I think the s-pen would actually be more useful in that size. But I can't see why they would release a Tab 2 10.1 and a Note 10.1.
Edit: I see the pics on slash gear. I'm excited to see what's revealed. All we've got now is an ipad 1.

I'm hoping that they're announcing this 10.1 as the lower end Tab and then will show off the new super thin 11.6 inch tablet as their new top of the line tablet.

    Hoping...but not convinced.

I was hoping for the Galaxy Tab 3 announcement at WMC. What a big disappointment.

I was hoping for a quad core tab from Samsung but they're offerings so far are weak compared to Acer and ASUS, heck even Huawei

Samsung had a weak showing at MWC. Two 10.1 tablets that look and operate almost the same as the current 10.1. Why not just make one tablet that is compatible with the S-Pen but is an optional accessory instead? Kinda like HTC and the Flyer.
Here's to hoping they have something up their sleeve like they did last year when the 10.1 was announced.

I'm hoping they have something planned, but it's really confusing to the buyer now. Samsung's should have just stayed with the tab series or at least differentiated the two. The note and the tab 2 look identical. I'm really hoping for a quad core 1080p tab

Without the 11.6 inch + "retina" display, Samsung has no chance of competing in the tablet market.

Agreed. With the iPad 3 almost certain, Samsung needs something to keep itself afloat in this rising sea of Tablets. (terrible metaphor lol)
Maybe it might end up like last year when Sammy announced the old 10.1 and then tweaked it once iPad 2 was released.

I couldn't agree with you more. Although I think ASUS has the whole tablet thing down to a science. They have some nice offerings at MWC

I will ditch Samsung for Asus if the original Tab 10.1 doesn't get ICS update by March latest as promised by Samsung.

Already, the Tab 10.1 2 is almost simlar like the original version, they really have no excuses of not giving it to us now. Corporate greed might make them delay the ICS update till after the products have been in the market for a week or two.

I think it's looking likely that Samsung learned from the iPad 2 debacle (when it made their Galaxy Tab look like a joke, so they redesigned it in a month). So they're waiting to see what Apple offers first and then quietly making a competitive Tablet to the iPad 3.

Thankfully I could care less about Ics update for my tablet. When it happens it happens. My tablet does everything and more that I need it to do with or without Ics. I don't understand why people get so nuts over these Updates. Yes I know certain things will be improved upon but to actually get angry because it is not on our tablets yet is something I guess I won't ever understand.

    Galaxy tab 10.1

    Galaxy tab 10.1
I'm not angry I'm just peeved that tablets that just came out get the update before the older tabs do. The acer a200 got ICS so why can't Samsung get it together and release ICS. I want ICS because it makes everything so smooth

    Galaxy tab 10.1
People (myself included) just want the latest and greatest of whatever out there. To be on the bleeding edge of technology
I just would like this update to at least address some of the lag I have in my Tab. The sooner the better.

The main reasons I want ICS for my Tab 10.1:

    - A reduction in the lag when browsing on the home screens
    - Reduction in typing lag
    - Smoother and faster Internet browsing experience

As it is, individual apps (games etc) run fine on the Tab, it's just that the OS itself if lag-ridden.

I'm glad I see other people with the same lag issues. I got my SGT10.1 for Christmas and I love it...but when I scroll to other pages on the home screen and it takes 5 seconds or more for it to react...I get pretty frustrated. As well, typing is a joke...

I am not crazy to get the update like some here, but if the experience gets better with the update, I certainly would like to have it sooner than later.

I'm not to crazy about it, it just irks me when other oems can push the update out and Samsung can't get it together. I mean Samsung is a reputable company and a huge android vendor at that. They need to get their act together

I use to get massive lag but I uninstalled everything on the home screen so its like an ipad in terms that there is only an app drawwr. It works much better without lag
