Default How did you install the new update to ICS?

Did you install it via OTA? Kies?

I included location so we can see if they're releasing it more on one coast versus the other.

    Kies, east coast.
I did a reset (and nothing else) in anticipation of the update, so I was able to use Kies with no problems.
I also tried Kies after the update, and after I reinstalled all of my apps, etc. Tab connected
    to Kies ok.
Looks like that's one of the things fixed in ICS.

I did a factory default reset and it loaded after the reset. After I reset it, ICS came up automatically, so it was really neither option. I live in Illinois, FWIW.

My Tab was rooted and the journey to ICS for me was:
On Tab, did a check for new updates....none found.
Started Kies, an update was available.
    Updated Kies.
The new Kies, found the new Rom update. Did the update through Kies with USB connection.
ICS ICS ICS.... Update done... Issues... None... other than wiping out all of my widgets and user details that were not Google based... Over-all- Good experience so far.

I flashed the UK update a few days ago. Now that the US version is available, I tried connecting to Kies but it says the latest firmware is there. So do I have to factory reset in order to do this? Is it worth it?

Ohio here and I had not received the OTA this morning so I flashed it using Kies. It was a simple process and I can honestly say that I am enjoying my Tab again. This update has lessened my desire for a Nexus 7... For now!

    That would be an OTA.

Sorry, you're right! I should have but totally forgot because I had read an article that mentioned only the coasts. I don't think I can change it now. Sorry.

A reset will only set your tab to out of the box condition as if ICS was originally installed.
You have to flash back to HC 3.2 in order to get the OTA update.
I didn't use the UK version long enough to be able to tell you if one is better than the other.

Yeah, I should have stated that. I was wrong about the whole thing anyway. I flashed the U.K. build a couple of weeks ago and did a reset yesterday in anticipation of the update. It gave me ICS when it reset, which led me to believe I'd received the U.S. version. It wasn't, but I got it from Sammobile and flashed it through ODIN in a few minutes and without any problems. I don't expect to ever see Jelly Bean, but I can certainly live with the smoothness and stability of ICS.

Flashed the UK version of ICS using ODIN when it came out. Then flashed the US version of ICS using ODIN when it came out.
Hope the Jelly Bean update for the Tab 10.1 comes out. Come on now, Samsung!!!

I used Kies to install the update. It took about 20 minutes from start to finish. I followed Samsung video about how to do it and it worked with no problems. I should mention that as spoon ad the install was done and I confirmed the tablet worked, I wiped the tablet. ICS works great on it.

Used ODIN to do UK ROM when it came out, and used ODIN again for US version. Took all of about 15 min and did not lose a thing.

I had a rooted Honeycomb and an older version of kies. I had to uninstall the older version of Kies, install the new version (which would not install over the old version by the way) and then upgraded using Kies via USB connection. No problem whatsoever. However, while all the old programs compatible with ICS 4.0.4 were reinstalled I have to reset all the icons on the home pages. A minor thing in the overall scheme.

I live in northeast Texas and have been checking several time a day for the ICS update. I finally did a factory reset and my tablet connected to Kies, found the update, and installed it without any problems.

Got tired of waiting on OTA, did it via Kies here on the east coast. No factory reset, everything has been working great!

Flashed UK version a couple of weeks before the OTA was available. Haven't seen a reason to change.

I had to factory reset my Sprint Epic and my Galaxy Tab to get them to work with streaming videos from the Internet. That what I was told to do by Sprint. It works now.
