Anyone know how to access the external SD card when the unit is connected to a PC? I keep getting MTP mode and only connects to the internal SD drive only.
I am not that familiar with the tab, but can't you do it like your phone? Go into USB from the menu, and choose either ask on connection or something like that?
When it's hooked up to your PC the TAB will unmount the SD card and will become unavailable to the TAB. Since you can't charge the Galaxy Tab using USB, I don't think there is an option to turn off the disk mounting like on the phone like setting it to charge only.
I'm not sure why it's doing what you're saying. I just plugged mine into the USB and it's showing up as GT-P3113 under My Computer and I can access two folders inside that: Card (external SD) and Tablet (internal storage). This is the first time I've actually plugged it into the computer so my USB settings are all as they came from the factory.
On my Galaxy Nexus, to work around the problem of being forced to use MTP, I use an app called WiFi File Explorer Pro which turns your device into a wireless server that you can copy anything to/from. I use it on my Tab 2 7.0 as well without a hitch.
