Can't update to 4.04

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of Kies but it keeps telling me there is an update for my Tab 2 7.0 but will never install it.

As soon as I choose Start Upgrade, Kies starts connecting to my tablet again then displays the new firmware is available message. I have attempted to update many times. I have restarted my computer and my tablet and continue to have the same results.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Thank you very much for the information.

I followed the directions above and was told by the Samsung rep that there was no update available and to disreguard the message! I told her that my Tablet had Android version 4.0.3, she then said the latest version was 4.0.4 but to disreguard the message and have a nice day!

That just sucks!

Samsung did release 4.0.4 for the 10.1-inch model Galaxy Tab 2. Apparently whoever posted the update did not make the proper distinction about the 7-inch model making Kies think there is an update but of course in the end, the installation fails because it is for a different model.

I hope the update for the 7-inch model comes out soon.

I hope so too. I'm still curious as to why Kies says there's an update for my 7 inch Tab 2 when I connect it to my computer.

FINALLY - Using Kies (the desktop app) was useless. However i went to update over the air and about 20 minutes later, I have ics version 4.04.

Well, well...my Tab 2 is updating over the air, too. I tried that yesterday but it didn't find the update.

How did you get kies air? When i try to download it says that it isnt compatible with my device. I want to upgrade and do you know what is new?

So I just did the update through the settings and it worked . Running 4.04.

My mom's 7-inch Galaxy Tab 2 received the update on Friday, two days after my 10.1-inch model received it. Update occurred over the air for both tablets.
