At 0230 hours Eastern (USA) this morning both of my Verizon Sammy 2 7.0 tablets were upgraded automatically to 4.1.2., build number JZ054K.I705VRBLL2. WiFi and everything else seems to be working just fine.

I never thought it was going to happen for the Verizon versions of this tablet.

Not sure if anyone can answer this one but I just purchased the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Wi-Fi only from Best Buy on Saturday. It came with 4.1.1 Jellybean. Does anyone know if I'll be able to get the 4.1.2 update soon? Or will the tablets on contract only receive this update?

My best guess would me sometime in the middle of next month. It took about a month and a half for the 4.1.1 update to come to the U.S. after being released in Europe.

I hope I can update soon. Just bought the Tab 2 10.1 from Verizon. Activated it with service on Saturday. My tablet is currently stuck on 4.04. I tried to manually search for updates but it says no updates found. Hoping I can get Jelly Bean soon. I have 4.1.1 on my Note II and would sure love to update this tablet.

I've been manually requesting update throughout the afternoon. About 2:15 if finally appeared. I have only downloaded 50% of the update so far. Ready to try it out.

Ok, you guys are killing me!!! I am still waiting for 4.1.2 to hit my non-contract wi-fi only Tab 2 :(

I may be wrong but,
4.1.2 is a Verizon version I believe.
WiFi only units are at 4.1.1
So you may not see it. Next update for us WiFi only units will be 4.2.2 or so.
Someone please correct me.

The WIFI only tabs will get the 4.1.2 update. Android 4.2.2 will be the last update. Here's an article about it:
Samsung to update the Galaxy Tab 2 until Android 4.2.2, testing on 1st Gen Galaxy Tabs | SamMobile

I heard from a different source that the final (4.2.2) update should come by September. As for the 4.1.2 update, my best guess is that it may arrive sometime by the end of this month. I can't guarantee that, but it's just a guess i made based on how long it took to get the 4.1.1 after they released it in Europe(1 and a half months). They released the 4.1.2 for the Europe model (GT-P3110 i think the model number was) at the end of February.

Thanks AfroNinja313 for the info! That is promising news for us wi-fi only owners. I can live with 4.2.2 being the last update for my system.

A few questions from canadian Tab2 7'' customer:
- Any progress on 4.1.2 deployment up north ?

I would need to confirm difference between JB 4.1.1 vs JB 4.1.2 according to various readings here and there:

- 4.1.1 is stuck in protrait mode because 7" tablets were deemed "same as" Phones by oppositon to 10" which had landscape-portait choice ? (I have been refusing ICS to JB 4.1.1 because of this)
- In response to 4.1.1 portrait complaints, Google issued 4.1.2 where 7" tabs were no longer locked in portrait; true or false ?
- Any other difference between 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 ?
- Subsequent JB version including up to 4.2.2 also permit landscape mode for 7" tablets ?

Thanks.

Since I balked on upgrading ICS to JB 4.1.1, is it possible that I do not get the push to upgrade to 4.1.2 ? Note that I am in Canada and there might be a delay in having the JB 4.1.2 anyway.

I am wondering if anyone knew if I would need to first upgrade to 4.1.1 before being able to further upgrade to 4.1.2 ?

Thanks,

Mike
