Welcome to the forums. I have a Tab 2 myself. 8 GB internal. The downside is the OS takes about 4. As I recall, the Tab was offered up to 16 GB, with the OS taking about the same amount.
Apps, to a degree, can be moved to the SD card. Here is the catch: only a portion of it can be moved, and that is up to the developer. The portion that can be moved varies, and is usually very small.

Do you have any media on the tablet, like music or pictures? Those can take up space really quick.
