I bought a couple of gel cases for them. I will have to get sd cards soon or wait till after christmas. The tabs are only 8gb storage so will probably get another 8gb sd cards for them. 12gb is enough for them

Although you can't download it from the play store directly to the Tab 3, if you have an android phone you can download BBM and then using AppMonster save the APK file then send it to the Tab 3 over whatever means, (Bluetooth or wifi direct for example) then install it and set it up. Works great. Just have to get other friends on there too.

There's a link for BBM if you don't feel like going through all that I described above.

BestBuy had all weekend and still yesteryear a micro SD Sandisk Ultra 32GB for $16.99. Needless to say I got me one! 👍😉

The same card with 8GB was $9.99 and I think the 64GB was $32.99.

    Thanks, I might try it.
But for now we don't use it for texting. And talkatone actually works flawlessly for texting and phone calls. We'll see.

I'm using my old Sony 8GB microSD that was part of the Xperia X10 back in 2010, all I have on it are comics & eBooks. I will eventually upgrade it to something bigger, like a Class 10 64GB microSD.

I currently have a 32GB Class 4 in my S4...will also be upgrading this to 64GB Class 10 as well.

Is the 7" Galaxy Tab 3 going to receive any Android updates or will it be stuck on 4.1.2?

Thinking of getting this tablet for my kids as a cheap starter.

The 7" should be getting 4.2 since the above two already have it, those of us who got it when it came out in early summer got it with 4.1.2.

    Are you in the US?
If you are, you could get the Sprint version, it comes with 4.2.2.

Or just get it anyways with 4.1, I'm pretty sure it will get updates.

Since its for your kids they won't notice anything different.

My kids love our GT3 and there isn't much difference that they can tell between my GS4 with 4.3 and the GT3 with 4.2.2.

    Good luck! 😉

No I'm in Canada, and sure the kids might not notice any difference, but the later versions of Jelly Bean include performance updates, so I'm sure 4.2 or 4.3 would be faster on the tablet than 4.1. I know the Tab 3 isn't anywhere near the best hardware, just want to make sure it's not sluggish when they use it.

There is a 16GB version, here in Canada it costs CAD$299.99. I got the 8GB version for free through a promotion with TD Canada Trust.

Can someone let me know how you managed to do this? I downloaded the same app (apps2sd) but I don't see anywhere that it lets me move the apps onto the SD card. I think it may be disabled due to a hardware limitation on the Tab 3.0 7". Any help?

As for the tablet itself, it's not bad if you can get it for more or less free like I did. The Nexus 7 smokes it in every spec category except for the microSD, which is why being able to move apps to it is such a crucial feature for this tablet. You can have up to 80 gigs of storage on this thing vs a 32gb Nexus.

So, since I'm finalizing making my decision, for internet/youtube/movie watching/streaming/old school and some new school gaming, you could do worse for 50 bucks up front and 15 bucks a month for 2 gigs of data?

I was able to get 2 of them the other day at a Sprint Corporate store for free with free activation. These were added to my existing account. I wasn't even considering this tablet or a connected one through a wireless operator until this deal came about. I also noticed the specs on the Sprint Galaxy Tab 3 is upgraded from the WiFi version.

    Sprint Version

    Processor
    1.7 GHz dual core processor

    Memory
    16GB internal memory(ROM), 1.5GB (RAM)

    Operating system
    Android 4.2

    WiFi Version

    Processor
    1.2 GHz dual-core processor

    Memory
    8GB internal memory(ROM), 1.0GB (RAM)

    Operating system
    Android 4.1.2

I qualified for a Sprint account, though I have nothing on it, how did you get those for free, and with no activation fee in a corporate store? I know if you get it online there's no activation fee, but if you can get both free and no activation, please, tell me how, I'm gonna get the damn thing.

How I got the deal - Sprint Corporate store, 'heard there was a free offer'

Someone on HoFo said they got one free saying it was store dependent, I was looking to buy 2 of them. I first went into an independent Sprint store and they offered $5 off the $50 price. I then tried a Sprint Corp store and they offered them for $0.00 and $0.00 activation charges. I put them on the $15 2GB plan. They didn't even try to bargain just saying sure thing no problem.
