MTP USB Driver Fails To Load - Win7 x64
I have a Galaxy tab 7" GT-P3113 running Android 4.1.1, Kernel ver 3.0.31-523998, build JRO03C.P3113UECLK7. When I connect it to a USB port of my HP laptop running WIndows 7 X64, sometimes the MTP driver loads and I can access files from Windows but most often it fails. This seems to have happened recently. I don;t use the tablet that much. When I first got it a few years back, I never had a problem attaching to Windows. I see a lot of similar reports but no definitive solution. Any idea what the problem is?
I also have Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Nexus phones that connect fine to the same laptop with no issues at all. Suggestions? The tablet isn't rooted. Would rooting help? If i do root the tablet, would I be able to connect as in USB mass-storage mode instead of as a Media Device?
