Hey Guys,
Picked up my 8.9 yesterday, pretty happy with it so far. I'm new to the Tablet scene, and new to HoneyComb. My other Android device is a Samsung Droid Charge (GummyCharge), and a Droid X.

For those that haven't, some stuff which may be useful.

-Is root available - YES. Same exploit as 10.1. See this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/gal...tab-8-9-a.html . Thanks to Thunder82 for trying it out!

-Does it have SD slot or USB - Nope. It has a 30pin connector at the bottom, that's it. You can attach "connector kits" via the 30pin connector for USB, SD, and HDMI out. Find them here:

-Speaking of accessories, the book cover is on back order, but I found one here which I just ordered:

-Does it have "x" - check here first: . Not listed, it does have GPS.

-No, you cannot use it as a Phone. You can use it as a VoIP speaker phone with Groove IP and Google voice, pretty cool.

-Yes, it's Touch Wiz.

-Yes, Skype works.

-As of this posting, it only seems to be available at Best Buy, at the stores in Houston did not have any 32GB versions, nor any accessories.

-Quadrant Scores about 2300 out of the box.

-Files system is EXT4 (my Samsung phone used RFS, and don't know if this is 'new' to tablets).

Very informative. Thanks. I have had my 8.9 for little over a week and love it.

I had the 10.1 Book Cover Case from Samsung and loved it! I am waiting for the 8.9 Book Cover Case to be i stock. I wonder if the lawsuits from Apple made Samsung hold off on making the case. Does not seem likely it would be out of stock on day 1
