browse in desktop mode
I just got my galaxy tab from att and so far love it.
Some websites recognize that im on a mobile device and send me to their mobile site and provide lower functionality. I tried the about debug and changed the setting to desktop rather than andriod, however some site still hate me and recognize that im on a mobile device... :-(
I also thried this in the dolphin hd browser with the same unfortunate effect.
Anyone kniw of a way to do this that actually works?
Thanks in advance! - 12-19-2011, 09:30 AM #2

Re: browse in desktop mode
For one the tablet software is designed like that. The desktop sights thank your using a mobil phone. I really hate it because theres no need for mobil sights on such large screen. Maybe ics has it fixed

Re: browse in desktop mode
For example when you go to play a show on hulu.com it will tell you that the content is not available for this device in the player when it is about to play a show.
Other sites that are trying to be non-user friendly also do this, trying to force you to pay/or just plane not allow you to use their site on a non desktop platform.
Also note that the hulu app does not let me play hulu on this tablet because it is not supported... - 12-19-2011, 06:34 PM #6

Re: browse in desktop mode
this is my biggest problem with tablets. they are large and powerful and deserve the full version of sites. I shouldn't have to get an alternative browser, i really like the HC browser but dolphin fools servers into loading the full sites

Re: browse in desktop mode
If you are on hc then dolphin browser
Hit menu, more, settings, dolphin settings, user agent.
Switch it to desktop and the dolphin browser will ping the web sites with a desktop fingerprint. Sites have ALWAYS loaded into desktop for me with this.
You can wait for ics to get a half *** fix in the stock ics it will load up mobile sites but in the settings menu you can request the full desktop vesionLG Optimus V - CM 9.1 BobZ - 01-03-2012, 01:48 PM #13
