Tab 8.9 vs 7.0 Plus... a gift for the wife

I've been looking at the Samsung Tabs for a while and it's down to the 8.9 and the 7.0 Plus as a gift for my wife

I like the idea of the exapansion in the 7.0 Plus but the screen resolution is smaller than I'd like.

The 8.9 has a slightly slower processor and limited memory (no expansion) but the screen is a lot better.

Both offer a small form factor that will go well in my wife's hand and she's looked at the Kindle Fire and Nook but liked the size of the 8.9 when compared to all of them.

Other than SoD issues I've been reading about in the forums, are there any other detractors to the 7.0?

How much 'slower' is the processor in the 8.9 vs the 7.0 Plus?

Now that CES has released the new tablets, I'll be holding on these ideas until pricing and availability comes out for the SGT 7.7 and the Asus M370T mini-Transformer. If the $249 cost holds for the Asus, I'll be jumping onto the Prime bandwagon sooner than I thought.
