Can usb to hdmi tv?

New to tablets. Can the usb port used for charging be used with a usb cable to hdmi for streaming movies on an hdmi equipped TV? We do that now with my Kindle Fire HD and would like to use the Tab S for instead.

It should work with the appropriate mhl adapter

It does work. I went with the more pricy official Samsung adapter. Best Buy (US) had a 3rd party adapter that was a bit cheaper. Micro usb-type plug on one end (goes into the Tab S), a larger dongle block on the other which takes a full size hdmi cable. That larger block also has a micro-usb port which I believe is intended to allow the Tab to charge. I have not tried that and I think I've read it may or may not charge!!!
