My new Tab S2 won't recognize my thumbprint and I haven't set a backup password, what should I do?

Welcome to Android Central! Here's the thing--when you set up fingerprint unlock, you are required to select a backup password, then confirm it by entering it again. So try hard to remember what your backup password that you selected is.

If you can't figure it out then it's time for a factory reset unless you're with a carrier.

If it helps the password has to be 6 characters with 1 number and 1 letter. I just went through forgetting and once I saw the rules, I remembered my password. Too late of course,
