How does the S2 do in games? Easy to root?

Looking to replace an aging Nexus 7 (2013). Benchmarks seem to indicate that the S2 is capable for gaming, but wanted to know if anyone had some real world experience to share

Also, is one on 5.1.1 easy to root? I assume Samsung is in the 'root destroys your warranty' club, even if root is then removed? I have not dealt with any Samsung devices before, but have rooted and flashed custom roms on all my other devices (usually Nexus or Motorola devices).

There is an open-box S2 8.0 in perfect condition locally for $264 I am thinking of grabbing.

I don't know about gaming. However, Amazon is selling the 8.0 for $299.

It handles game very well! Good screen, no lags, high fps on games. It beats my ipad 3 to pieces even i love ipad. Apple destoryed my ipad with ios9.
