How can I use my up/down volume in media on my Galaxy Tab SPH-P100?

Galaxy Tab SPH-P100 up/down volume use in media

Hi
I have an Android SPH-P100. When I go to youtube or any other site and attempt to adjust the volume with the up/down key it kicks me back to the previous page.

Is this typical? If so, how do I control the volume once I am playing a video? Touching the video acts as a pause. No volume control comes up?

I am new to this tablet. Any information would be appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! Is this tablet brand new, or did you get it from someone else? I wonder if someone else installed an app that modifies the buttons--or perhaps someone else rooted the device and modified it before you got it.
