Just saw the official Gingerbread for the tab...
Posted on Androidpolice, July 5th we will supposedly get Gingerbread.
I rooted via SuperOneClick and have the Sprint 3G/WiFi version.
Should this work ok? Would root be lost?
Can't afford a brick b/c my lil one loves her tab. - 07-01-2011, 08:26 PM #2
I would unroot, update and then reroot.
I hope tmo rolls this out soon. I really want Google video chat and skype video chat options.

Well, Skype should work at least.

Is there a link to download the files? I want to see what happens if I try to force an install on my tab.

Re: Just saw the official Gingerbread for the tab...
Someone did post a download link to the Sprint update file somewhere (search the Sprint GB update threads in this forum) but it will fail to load unless it sees the previous Sprint firmware version already installed the tab (EB28, I believe). Even on my Sprint tab, you couldn't load the GB update unless you had the previous update (I was two Sprint OTA updates behind and had to install both of them in sequence before the OTA GB update was visible to my tab and could be loaded). So there's ZERO chance it would load on your WiFi only version, unfortunately. The only other "Official" GB update I've seen floating around that could be manually loaded is for GSM Tabs only (compatible with "International", T Mobile and AT&T tabs). Right now the WiFi SGT Tab community is low man on the totem pole as far as official updates are concerned. Sorry.
