insufficient memory on new tab 7 8gb

Newbies to Android....

We had just 2 apps on the tablet and when trying to download a third it said insufficient memory, so we added a 32gb SD card, tried moving the apps to the card, but they wouldn't move. Cleared the cache - same messages. Did a factory reset and then tried to put the apps back and can't even get those now will the same insufficient memory error. Super annoyed.... new tablet for christmas and can't even use it! Please help

Most apps won't run or won't run correctly, so the developers (those who understand how Android works, at least) don't allow the apps to be moved.

The system itself sits in about 4GB and needs about 1/2GB free, so there's not much left to load apps. But you should still be able to load the ones that were there before you did the reset. Look in Settings/General/Storage to see what's taking up all the space. If it's Misc, that's the data the apps store (like the settings you set, your bookmarks, etc.) You may or may not want to get rid of all or some of those. If it's something else ... it depends on what.

If you have a couple of GB free and you still can't install an app, bring it back and ask for a replacement that works. (Or you could first try Best Buy - go to the cellphone area and ask where the Samsung Experience desk is. Those are Samsung people, they know their products and thy have software tools to solve problems. (If it was bought at Best Buy and the Samsung people verify that it's defective, Best Buy will usually give you a new one.)
