I think there are laws requiring the sound in certain parts of the world for privacy reasons.

If true, that's silly considering video makes no noise.

It's South Korean law. Shutter sounds need to be minimum 64db.

In the US, Google "Camera Phone Alert Predator Act".

When video recording starts and stops there is an audible tone.

guess i couldn't hear it when doing a short video in the store. you know how hard it is to hear subtle sounds in a big box store like BB.

Am I nuts or did the video sound start a day or so ago? I was sure it was silent before, but now, like the camera, I can't find a way to silence it.

Is there a device size limitation to the shutter sound laws? I can take silenced pics with my phone.

My Note 2 also can take pics silently. seems like BS to have the watch make noise...

That law was not enacted in the US. it was presented in 2009.

I think there are apps on the Gear Store exactly for this... Take "pics" without making sound... Although they just take "screen-grabs" lol
