is there an app to update the Gear Fit to accurately record steps

My Gear Fit is not accurately recording steps walking and does not record them at all when I am on an elliptical. Is there an app that I can download to fix this problem? Do they plan to fix it or did I waste my money?

Did anyone ever find an answer to this? My watch and my devices all record different numbers and I can't even get it to pair with my note 4! I'm too tired to keep chasing my tail on this one. I just need it to earn my earthmiles points! Thanks for your help!

The Fit 2 step counts are location based using it's stand alone GPS. You have to move to a different location for the step to be recorded. And accuracy of steps depends on GPS accuracy. When used on stationary exercise equipment, GPS doesn't detect the movement. A Fitbit would be better since it uses motion to detect steps. I hope this helps.
