Can the Gear S2 be used to keep phone unlocked?

If you mean by disabling the pin to unlock, then yes. It's in the settings to make the phone swipe only to unlock if the gear S2 is in range.

By settings I mean it's in the gear app manager settings on the phone, not on the watch.

I had that setting with my Gear S, but not my Gear S2. Should it be under the "General" heading and then "Settings" with the blue gear icon next to it?

Can't you use Android's smart unlock feature via bluetooth?

Go through the security settings on the phone. Set it as a trusted device and allow trusted device unlock

I did that, but I think I found the issue. I think my company exchange server policy is preventing these settings.
