Mark Gmail as "Read" after viewing notification?

I'm surprised this isn't the default behavior and more surprisingly there's no menu option "Mark as Read" for a gmail notification (all's you can do is "Archive"). Could someone suggest a workaround?

The workaround will be a 3rd party email handler with 'mark as read' as an actionable option in the notifications. Gmail nor Outlook (I just checked outlook) have it.

I use CloudMagic as my email client on my phone, and have its notifications pushed to my S2 watch. The actions available when reading the emails on the watch do include "Mark as Read".
